~ THE LAMB & FLAG INN LOCAL BUYING POLICY ~
We firmly believe that in Cornwall, we have some of the very best produce available anywhere. Wherever possible we buy Cornish produce from local producers. Seasonal aspects mean that some items have to be sourced from further afield and some ingredients may not be available locally. However we regularly change our menus to incorporate local produce as it comes into season. Whilst we do use local wholesalers to source some of our Cornish produce we also buy direct from local farms and producers, both large and small. To promote animal welfare and to help reduce the amount of food miles covered, we use Cornish meats from local butchers.
This local buying policy is aimed at supporting the local economy and reducing the effects on the environment of transporting goods over long distances. We aim to bring you interesting meals prepared using really fresh local produce and are confident that you will be able to taste the difference. This reliance on fresh produce will mean that we may, on occasions, run out of items, or find that supplies are unavailable. This can happen with fish supplies when local fishermen are unable to sail due to adverse weather or tidal conditions. We hope you understand and choose an alternative dish on these occasions. Details of our suppliers are available in our restaurant.
We hope you enjoy your dining experience and look forward to seeing you soon!
